Safety Information for Visiting Bell Ringing Groups

At St. Martin’s Eynsford, there is parking in the housing estate behind the church, on the main road, in the car park opposite the church and on the riverbank.  There are toilets in the church - whoever is letting you in should give you access if you ask.  There are also toilets in the Malt Shovel, 50 yards up the road.

SAFETY NOTE

  1. The Trap Door at the top of the stairs is potentially dangerous.  It may fall if the bolt and catch are not properly in place.  Please ensure that they are. If you close the trap door, please ensure its catch and bolt are properly in place when you finish.
  2. Unless ringing, do not linger near the top of the stairs.  Where possible we prefer non-ringers to be seated in the ringing chamber, or downstairs in the church.

The clock hammer will need to be restrained when you are ringing.  The cable is above the top of the stairs.  Please remember to release it when you have finished.

The treble is the bell nearest the clock hammer immediately at the top of the stairs.

At Farningham

The clock hammer will need to be restrained when you are ringing. It is at the back right hand corner of the ringing chamber.  You will need to tie it off carefully.

Parking is usually available on the main road or in the village hall car park, opposite the church.

There are toilets in the village hall, if open.  There are toilets in the Shand (Church) Hall, adjacent to the church.  Whoever is letting you in may be able to give you access.  The Bull, or Lion pubs also have toilets.
